Ji-Ren Lee is a Professor of Strategy and Management of the Department of International Business (since 2002), and the Director of Taida Entrepreneurship Center (TEC, since 2014) and Creativity and Entrepreneurship Program (since 2011) at National Taiwan University. He has been serving as the Associate Dean of College of Management for two terms (2005-2008, 2011-2013).

Professor Lee received his doctoral degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the area of Strategic Management in 1994. He has been a visiting scholar at the Industrial Performance Center of the Sloan School of Management, MIT during the year of 1999-2000. In addition, he has been visiting at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia as a Fulbright Scholar during the year of 2006-2007.

Professor Lee’s research interests focus on various issues concerning how firms in emerging markets can create competitive advantages through specialization and grow by dynamically changing business configurations. Recent research topics include transformational growth strategy, strategic innovation, corporate entrepreneurship and venturing investment strategy, among others. His publications appeared in various academic journals and practitioner-oriented magazines during the past years.

Professor Lee taught strategy-related courses for undergraduate, MBA, and EMBA students at NTU. He has been the recipient of NTU Outstanding Teaching Award for two times (2003, 2015) and NTU Teaching Excellence Awards (1999-2002, 2009, 2011-2014). In 2005, Professor Lee was appointed as the Executive Director of the EMBA Program in the College of Management. Under his leadership, NTU EMBA has been awarded the top ranked EMBA program in Taiwan in two consecutive years by Cheers Magazine (2006 & 2007).

Professor Lee has been working with Yu-Long Motor Co. and Boehringer Ingelheim Taiwan Ltd. for several years before he started his academic career. As an academic, he maintains constant interactions with major companies of industrial and service sectors in Taiwan through educational development and consultation services, especially on the issues of transformation and talent management. He has been leading a talent development project inside a largest EMS company in Taiwan during 2008-2010. Professor Lee currently serves as an independent director for three listed companies (ESun Financial Holding Co., Acer, Inc., Wowprime Group) and two not-for-profit organizations in Taiwan.
