Dr. Eric Wang is a private equity/ venture capital (PE/VC) fund manager with strong track record in Silicon Valley, Taiwan and China. He is currently a Managing Partner at GRC Funds, a Greater China based venture capital fund focusing on private companies with competitive advantages from innovative technology and/or business model.
Previously, Dr. Wang was a Managing Director at WK Technology Fund, one of the largest Taiwanese PE/VC funds. During his tenure, Dr. Wang led his team making investments in the high-tech sectors in Silicon Valley, USA., Taiwan and China; and in particular, while in Silicon Valley, he had successfully cultivated start-up companies from early stage and brought them to IPO or acquisition by public companies, achieving liquidity for the investors.
Prior to joining WK, Dr. Wang was the Global Head of Semiconductor Research at ABN AMRO Bank; and during that time, he and his team were highly ranked by institutional investor surveys including Reuters, Institutional Investors, Asia Money and Asset.
Earlier, while a graduate student at Stanford University, he worked as a yield management engineer for KLATencor (KLAC) providing services to semiconductor giants such as Intel, TI, Samsung and TSMC. Dr. Wang is a Ph.D. in Engineering-Economic Systems and Operations Research from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan.
In addition to being a professional private equity/venture capital fund manager, Dr. Wang teaches the executive programs at Stanford University, and is a frequent speaker at international conferences.
